Longney and Epney Parish Village Garden Scheme have won the CALOR VILLAGE FUND National Award! This is another result from our Parish Plan initiative to which most of our residents contributed with their views.
Later developments may include group purchase of seeds and other supplies, a stall for distribution of surplus vegetables and other local food products, and a community fruit and vegetable garden.
The Country Channel (www.countrychannel.tv) will be filming in the village during November, and the film shown at the CALOR Village of the Year awards at the Guildhall in London in early December.
The CALOR grant has already been received, and will enable us to immediately purchase a rotavator and shredder for use within the village. The next 3-4 months are the best possible time of year to clear and shred prunings and prepare new or existing ground for sowing next Spring, so we need to start work as soon as possible.
To find out more about the scheme, come to the Village Meeting upstairs at the Anchor on 9th December at 7.30 pm. If you are not able to come but would like further details, please contact,
